TAIPING – Thur 13 Jun 2019
M-ADAA was privileged to support the Annual Pilgrimage of the National Malaya & Borneo Veterans Association of Australia (NMBVAA) at the ceremony on Kamunting Road Christian Cemetery in Taiping and many thanks to Ian Holthouse, Liaison Officer NMBVAA as the main organiser and 9th Royal Ranger Regiment for their support.
At the cemetery, there are 28 Australian servicemen and their dependants who fought along side the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Police Service during the Malayan Emergency between 1948 and 1960. Also here are Defence members of the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Our thanks to the Commonwealth War Graves for replacing the two plaques that stand at the entrance with the names of those lying here.
LTCOL Paul Sanderson Commanding Officer 2nd/30th Training Group based at RMAF Butterworth gave the dedication.
Music was provided by the Royal Australian Navy Veterans band who had traveled from Australia.
