Lt Cdr Mohd Faries bin Mohd Nasir, from the Royal Malaysian Navy, was one of the secondment officers in Australia sent to HMAS WATSON, Sydney, for the Navy Officer Exchange programmes under MAJDP. He attended the Navy to Navy talks and shares his experience with M-ADAA.
Bilateral relationship between the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has been established years ago, since the navy existence in both countries. Therefore, to understand each other more thoroughly the right platform was to explore a navy to navy talk (N2N). The forum is conducted yearly, with its venue changing between Malaysia and Australia.
The purpose of N2N is to strengthen existing mutual cooperation, understanding Navy concerns from both countries, and to focus on planned actions. The forum is structured to focus on border strategy, organisation, personnel management, training, operations, common problems, mutual benefit and interest for each Navy’s future initiatives.
This talk was chaired together by Rear Admiral Dato’ Pahlawan Mior Rosdi bin Dato’ Mior Mohd Jaafar (Assistant Chief of Staff Operation and Exercises RMN HQ) with Commodore Peter Laver RAN (Chief of Staff Navy Strategic Command). A few senior officers involved throughout N2N namely, Malaysia Delegations: Colonel Mhd Nazri bin Abdul Rahman (DA), Cdr Khairil Hariss bin Hj Khairuddin RMN (SO 1 Development RMN HQ), LCdr Mohd Faries bin Mohd Nasir RMN (Secondment Officer HMAS WATSON).
